I’m about to make it super simple: – Riots and violence don’t solve anything * Riots and violence got you every right you and yours currently enjoy. Riots and violence are responsible for every forward advancement in human rights in history. – Why can’t they just be peaceful * Firstly, careful on throwing around “they”. They who? They have been peaceful. They kneeled. They peacefully assembled. It got them nothing but targeting, ridicule, and memes. Those in power do not care about peaceful protest, they have no incentive to change. – But mlk! * His protests often ended in violence and arrests. Do not white wash this. And you know what? They shot him anyway. – If people would be peaceful, the cops wouldn’t teargas/mace/shoot them! * Open literally any of the thousands of videos on social media right now and be quiet. You can’t make any more excuses. You cannot brush this under the rug. A cop maced a CHILD. They shot rubber bullets at someone on their own PORCH. – But looters! * No. Agent provocateurs and supremacists. The violence is being perpetuated by people who are either LEOs doing exactly what they’re trained to do in these situations, or racist groups escalating situations to loot and blame the protests. There is unending evidence of this online. Even the Minneapolis media is reporting on it. – But businesses! * They have insurance. There are plenty of statements out there from corporate and small businesses. Do not use them as shields for your arguments. – but negativity! * I swear to christ. If you have the absolute privilege to be inconvenienced by the negativity? Go on and have a seat. You will miss every point, and you lack any shred of empathy. If you have the nerve to say that riots solve nothing? I hope your LGBTQ+ friends see you (stonewall), I hope your women friends see you (suffragettes), and I hope your friends of color see you (now, all of recent and older history) **copied from a friend of a friend** Feel free to copy & paste
