(sharing) To all my friends and friends of friends on DACA: Your status is valid through March 5, 2018. You should not be fired or considered deportable until then. After that point, it is up to your individual employer whether or not to keep you on. After that, DACA will cease to exist and you will be subject to normal DHS removal priorities. Please stay out of trouble. If your status expires before then, RENEW NOW. Like seriously run, do not walk. If your status expires on or after March 6, USDHS will reject any application to renew. If your renewal application has been filed and is pending, we expect it to be processed normally. Sit tight. If you have been approved for Advanced Parole, USE IT NOW, subject to specific advice from your legal rep, if you have one. As of today, no more applications for AP will be accepted or approved. If you have a case at the Immigration Court that was administratively closed b/c of an approved DACA application, we do not yet know whether ICE will move to reopen these cases. Don’t flood your lawyer’s office about this rn. Give it another few months. DACA is being wound down and 45’s expectation is that Congress will pass a legislative fix in the next six months to give ppl on DACA a constitutionally-sound status. The hope is that people currently on DACA will be grandfathered into that new program, but we have no way of promising, confirming or even really saying whether or not this will happen. We’ve been expecting this, but unfortunately, we have no legal defense against it at this time. Write to your Congressperson. Call your Senator. Annoy your Governor. Get that fix through Congress. It stopped the Gang of 13, but maybe we can get something through this time. I stand with you and your families. Please share this with your friends and loved ones.
